Twisha Sharma's Post-Mortem Suggests Injuries Caused By 'Scuffle' Prior To Death, MP Govt Tells HC Published By, Last Updated: May 27, 2026, 16:15 IST The state’s counsel said both former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh allegedly subjected Twisha Sharma to cruelty. Rapid Read judge and Bhopal Consumer Court chairperson Giribala Singh, booked for the death of her daughter-in-law Twisha Sharma allegedly due to dowry harassment, is seen at her house amid an ongoing investigation in the case by the police, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. (IMAGE: PTI) The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday told the High Court that injuries found on actor-model Twisha Sharma’s body were ante-mortem and could have been caused during a “scuffle or struggle" before her death, while also alleging that former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh subjected her to cruelty in the dowry death case.

Appearing before the court during the hearing on pleas seeking cancellation of Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail, the state said Twisha was allegedly taunted over dowry and told that the amount spent by her family on the wedding was “not enough". The government also referred to injuries on her wrist, elbow and head during arguments. When the court asked whether the injuries were ante-mortem, the state replied in the affirmative and said the post-mortem report recorded such injuries. The state further argued that the injuries could not have occurred after death or while Twisha’s body was being taken down, saying that possibility had been ruled out in the report. According to the state, the post-mortem findings suggested the injuries may have occurred during a “scuffle or struggle" before Twisha’s death.

The Madhya Pradesh government also alleged that both Giribala Singh and her son had subjected Twisha to cruelty. Referring to chats examined during the probe, the state said Twisha’s pregnancy had triggered disputes within the family and “serious comments" were repeatedly made against her. When the court asked whether the allegations were against the husband, the mother-in-law or both, the state replied that “both of them subjected her to cruelty". The government also accused Giribala Singh of not cooperating with the investigation despite being served notices on May 13 and 14. It told the court she was not found at home when police visited her residence and alleged that she was “not joining the probe but has time to portray a narrative in her favour".
