The Capital has introduced a comprehensive Electric Vehicle policy and a proactive winter action plan to combat toxic air pollution. The new EV policy focuses heavily on expanding the charging infrastructure, aiming to establish thousands of new charging points across the city by 2030. To encourage rapid public adoption, significant financial subsidies and scrapping incentives are being offered for two-wheelers, while commercial trucks transitioning to electric power will receive entry exemptions and financial relief.
Furthermore, a strict winter action plan will replace the fluctuating implementation of previous pollution control protocols, mandating specific restrictions on construction and emissions throughout the winter months. Alongside the aggressive push for electric vehicles, government agencies are aligning to tackle long-standing civic challenges. Key priorities include overhauling waste management systems to properly dispose of thousands of metric tonnes of daily garbage, laying robust sewage networks to prevent the pollution of the Yamuna river, and upgrading public infrastructure to significantly improve the overall quality of life for residents.
