Monsoon showers in Mumbai have caused waterlogging, forcing the temporary closure of the Andheri subway. The city recorded nearly 200 mm of overnight rain, receiving 80 per cent of its average July rainfall in just four days. Low-lying areas, including Kurla and Andheri, have reported water entering homes, while incidents of trees falling were also recorded.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is deploying pumps to drain the water ahead of an expected four-metre high tide. Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue over the next two days.
