Joint forces comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and the CRPF neutralised two terrorists during an encounter in South Kashmir's Shopian district. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists, leading forces to cordon off the area before the gunfight began.
One of the deceased has been identified as an A++ category Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist wanted in multiple terror cases, who was under an NIA proclamation notice issued in October 2025 and linked to the Pahalgam attack and targeted killings. The identification of the second terrorist is currently underway as search operations continue in the area.
