The Ministry of Petroleum has amended the 2026 natural gas supply regulation order with immediate effect, relaxing emergency sector-wide gas allocation rules. This policy easing comes as the Strait of Hormuz traffic has resumed following a ceasefire and ongoing negotiations in West Asia. During the West Asia crisis, gas shipments to India were reduced due to a blockade, prompting the government to invoke the Essential Commodities Act and divert natural gas from commercial and industrial sectors to prioritize domestic households.
Now, as regional tensions ease, the emergency restrictions have been rolled back, and full natural gas supply is being restored to the commercial and industrial sectors. Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
