In Delhi, light to moderate rain lashed several areas, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for schools and colleges after the IMD issued a red alert. Monsoon To Advance Across Northwestern India The IMD said a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to keep the monsoon active across central India for the next four to five days. It added that the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into the remaining parts of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan, as well as parts of Gujarat and the North Arabian Sea over the next four days. The weather department has forecast isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan, the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh. Red Alerts Issued For 4 States Red alerts have been issued for parts of Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal and Kerala.
