Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday said the State government was committed to transforming prisons from being mere places of incarceration into centres for rehabilitation
Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday said the State government was committed to transforming prisons from being mere places of incarceration into centres for rehabilitation and personality development. He said inmates were being provided education, skill development, vocational training, and mental health support to help them become self-reliant after their release.
Before the event, the Home Minister inspected various facilities at the Parappana Agrahara prison and interacted with inmates undergoing computer training and reviewed the skill
development programmes being conducted. He also examined handicrafts made by inmates and said the government should explore better market opportunities for such products to help
former prisoners earn a sustainable livelihood after their release. Mr. Kharge also visited the learning center for children of inmates.
