DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday said the party would rise “like a phoenix” from setbacks, unlike some political parties that, he claimed, were unable to withstand even a single electoral defeat. Stalin, who left for London on a two-week personal visit, said no other political party had experienced the highs and lows that the DMK had over its history.
“Victory never went to our head, and defeat never demoralised us. That is why we rise like a phoenix,” he said in a statement. The former Chief Minister said the DMK was bound together by its ideology and had grown like a banyan tree. Party’s ‘chief cadre’ As the party’s “chief cadre”, Mr. Stalin said it was his responsibility to chart its course for the next hundred years by reflecting the aspirations of its cadres.
He asserted that no other political party could match the DMK’s organisational strength. “I have reiterated this point on several occasions, and leaders of other political parties as well as leaders from other States have agreed with this view,” he said. “When such a strong party moves forward, it should rise like a great mountain and shine like the sun.
Together, we must write the history of the party for the next century alongside the history of Tamil Nadu,” he said. Stalin added that although he would be in London for the next two weeks, his thoughts would remain with the people and the party in Tamil Nadu.
