A 21-year-old engineering student was killed after the SUV he was driving at high speed rammed into the rear of a moving ready-mix concrete truck on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Pedda Golkonda in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased was identified as Baireddy Savanth Reddy, a resident of a private hostel near Gitam University in Sangareddy and a native of Hanuman Nagar in Karimnagar.
According to the Shamshabad police, the accident was reported around 3 a.m. when Savanth was travelling from Pedda Golconda towards Gachibowli. Preliminary probe revealed that he lost control of the vehicle bearing registration number ‘AP 39 RZ 3024’ due to over speeding and crashed into the rear of a ready-mix concrete truck bearing registration number ‘TS 29 T 9780’ moving ahead on the same stretch of the ORR.
The impact completely mangled the front portion of the car and killed Savanth on the spot. A complaint was lodged by the deceased’s uncle, Gopu Srinivasa Reddy, who was informed about the accident after an unidentified caller found a mobile phone on the victim. Police said that Savanth, who was pursuing an engineering course and staying at a private hostel, had taken the SUV belonging to his friend, Sai Reddy, from the hostel on Friday night without the owner’s permission before the fatal crash.
Based on the complaint, the Shamshabad police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
