Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday alleged that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government had unleashed lawlessness, encouraged smuggling of natural wealth, and harassed political opponents in the State. Naidu was addressing a public meeting here after laying the foundation stone for the ₹118 crore model APSRTC bus station. “Rowdyism has no place in politics. I have never resorted to murderous politics. I am the one who eliminated factionalism in the State,” Mr. Naidu said. Accusing the YSRCP leadership of playing a vicious mind game on the Amaravati capital issue to fan its political vendetta, the Chief Minister asserted that “the State cannot shift the capital once Parliament enacts the law.” Referring to development of Kuppam, his home constituency, Mr. Naidu said it would emerge as a major economic, tourism and mining hub.
“There are plans to develop gold mines in the region using advanced technology,” he added. Reaffirming his commitment to Kuppam’s future, he said the government would commission extensive exploration and development of gold deposits in the constituency. Referring to the launch of the Jonnagiri Gold Fields, he said the project had already placed Andhra Pradesh among the country’s gold-producing regions after the historic Kolar Gold Fields. “Kuppam too will soon host intensified gold mining operations,” he said, and described the proposal as the true beginning of the “Swarna Kuppam” vision. The Chief Minister said that migrations from the region would stop, as Kuppam would usher in an era of development, job opportunities, and prosperity.
Naidu highlighted that skill development would be crucial for local youth to secure quality jobs in upcoming industries. “The State government is resolving long-pending land disputes, including those at Settipalli and Vatticherukuru. The temples in the Kuppam region will also be developed with ₹34 crore funds from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD),” he said. Tourism boost Naidu said a major tourism boost awaited Kuppam with elephant safari, rock climbing, and trekking facilities. A master plan to this effect was being prepared with the assistance of Surbana Jurong and IIT- Kanpur. Stating that maintaining law and order was his top priority, the Chief Minister said he would not hesitate to deal firmly with anti-social forces, while remaining accessible to the ordinary citizens.
