The Congress leadership appears to be moving cautiously towards a possible power transition in Karnataka, with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar staying back in Delhi for another round of consultations with the party high command. Sources told NDTV that Shivakumar is now expected to return to Bengaluru only tomorrow, fuelling speculation that crucial details of a leadership transition and power-sharing formula are still being worked out behind closed doors.
The development comes as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called ministers and close aides for a breakfast meeting in Bengaluru, amid intense buzz that he could formally brief loyalists on a possible resignation plan. Congress leaders are also believed to be discussing cabinet reshuffles, political messaging and balancing equations between the Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar camps to avoid any last-minute friction. The timing of the developments has gained further significance with Karnataka’s pending socio-economic survey report also expected to surface, adding another layer of political sensitivity to an already high-stakes transition.
