Ram Mandir Donation Theft: SIT Probes Melted Gold Angle Amid Missing Jewellery Records
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has intensified its probe into the alleged donation theft at the Ram Mandir, focusing on missing gold and silver jewellery
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has intensified its probe into the alleged donation theft at the Ram Mandir, focusing on missing gold and silver jewellery. Investigators suspect that stolen donated jewellery may have been melted into gold biscuits, as recent raids yielded no stolen ornaments. The SIT is questioning temple officials regarding donation records, mint transactions, and the lack of a detailed gold and silver inventory during trust meetings.
Approximately 944 kg of silver was reportedly sent to a government mint for processing, while earlier disclosures indicated the receipt of 20 kg of gold and 13 quintals of silver. The investigation gained momentum after an accused individual confessed to the theft, revealing a systematic operation where CCTV footage was allegedly compromised. The SIT is now auditing a five-year financial record submitted by the temple trust to verify documentation and account for the missing valuables amid concerns over inadequate inventory records.
