Eight Buddhist monks were killed and more than twenty others were injured in Thailand's Mukdahan Province after a pickup truck plowed into a pilgrimage procession. The truck was being driven by an eleven-year-old boy. The victims were part of a pilgrimage group of thirty-four Buddhist monks and five lay followers walking to a temple in the neighbouring Ubon Ratchathani province.
Thai officials have confirmed the fatalities and injuries. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
