From refinery to chip facility: PM to launch projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore today

With an aim to provide further imeptus to India’s economic and infrastructure growth in line with the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan and Gujarat on Saturday to unveil a series of major infrastructure, energy, transport and semiconductor projects aimed at strengthening India's industrial capacity, regional connectivity, clean energy ecosystem and manufacturing ambitions. Read Full Story NEW JODHPUR AIRPORT TERMINAL PM Modi will begin his visit to Rajasthan with the inauguration of the newly constructed terminal building at Jodhpur Airport. Built at a cost of Rs 480 crore, the terminal has been designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually and spans more than 23,000 square metres. Inspired by Rajasthan's royal architectural heritage, the building incorporates traditional elements such as arches and jharokhas alongside modern passenger amenities. The terminal has also been developed with sustainability in focus through energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures and green building practices aimed at securing a 5-Star GRIHA rating – India's highest national certification for green buildings.
BOOST TO REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY Alongside the airport inauguration, the PM will launch the modified UDAN scheme to further strengthen regional air connectivity. The Centre has allocated Rs 28,840 crore over the next decade for the initiative, which seeks to develop 100 aerodromes from existing unserved airstrips, construct 200 helipads, provide operational support to regional airports and continue viability gap funding for airlines. BARMER PETROCHEMICALS FACILITY From Jodhpur, the Prime Minister will travel to Balotra, where he will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 1.06 lakh crore before addressing a public gathering. The centrepiece of the visit is the inauguration of the 9 MMTPA refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Barmer district. Developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, the project has been built at an investment of over Rs 79,450 crore. The refinery's inauguration had earlier been scheduled in April but was postponed following a major fire at the site a day before the proposed launch. JAIPUR METRO PHASE 2 Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project, estimated to cost more than Rs 13,000 crore.
