A case that initially appeared to be a suicide has turned into a chilling murder, with a 23-year-old man in Gujarat allegedly killed by his own parents. Ram, a resident of Gundala village in Rajkot district, was found dead on June 30 after what was first believed to be a suicide. But as police began piecing together the events, the case took a dramatic turn. Read Full Story According to investigators, Ram was allegedly forced to drink acid and later strangled during a domestic dispute inside his home.
The accused in the case are his father Babubhai and mother Manishaben. Police said the incident was initially projected as a suicide, but inconsistencies in the circumstances led to a deeper probe. What began as a routine death investigation slowly unraveled into what officials now describe as a premeditated killing within the family. Investigators said long-standing tensions at home, reportedly linked to the victim’s alcohol addiction, appear to have escalated on the day of the incident.
During an argument, the mother is alleged to have forced Ram to consume acid, while the father allegedly assaulted and strangled him. Police further said there were attempts to pass off the death as suicide, including efforts to expedite a panel post-mortem at Gondal Civil Hospital, allegedly with the help of local contacts. However, investigators said the emerging evidence pointed in a different direction. The breakthrough came after Ram’s wife, Banshi — married to him for just four months — filed a complaint raising suspicion over the circumstances of his death.
Acting on her complaint, local police officials registered a case and arrested both parents. Further investigation is underway. Ends
