Foreign currency, including dollars, was also recovered during the ongoing probe.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has broken its silence, condemning the theft and demanding severe punishment for the guilty. They also urged devotees to foil conspiracies aimed at maligning the faith. Meanwhile, the Congress party has escalated its attack, demanding a Supreme Court-monitored investigation, the dissolution of the temple trust, and a public accounting of massive donations collected before the trust's formation.
The opposition also challenged the central leadership to address the controversy.
