The second day of the three-day Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 was conducted peacefully on Friday under AI-enabled surveillance across 955 examination centres in 60 districts, officials said. More than 7.51 lakh candidates appeared for the examination held in two shifts, while authorities apprehended 11 impersonators and one candidate carrying a mobile phone inside the examination hall.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, the Upper Primary Level examination was conducted from 9:30 am to 12 noon, followed by the Primary Level examination from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. Commission Chairman Dr. Prashant Kumar said all examination centres were monitored in real time through an AI Integrated Control Command Room set up at the Commission headquarters. AI-enabled cameras installed at the centres tracked candidates’ activities throughout the examination, allowing officials to identify suspicious cases and take immediate action. During the first shift, officials detected nine impersonators attempting to appear in place of registered candidates in different districts. They also caught one candidate who had allegedly concealed a mobile phone inside his shoe before entering the examination hall. In the second shift, two more impersonators were apprehended.
All 12 individuals were handed over to the local police for legal action. Apart from these incidents, the examination was conducted in a transparent, fair and copying free manner without any disruption, the Commission said. A total of 8,07,709 candidates had registered for Friday’s two shifts, of whom 7,51,321 appeared, recording an overall attendance of 93.01 per cent. Female candidates registered an attendance of 92.70 per cent, while the attendance among male candidates stood at 93.36 per cent.
