Family members of one of the accused in the Ram Mandir donation theft case, Luv Kush Mishra, have strongly denied the allegations against him, even as police claim to have recovered Rs 14.25 lakh in cash and important documents during a raid at his residence. Luv Kush Mishra, 27, was part of the team responsible for counting donations and offerings received at the Ram Temple and is among the eight principal accused named in the alleged donation embezzlement case. Read Full Story Speaking to India Today, Mishra's grandfather, Jagdamba Prasad, questioned the police's claims regarding the cash recovery from his home and maintained that his grandson was innocent. "Provide the police records and tell us where the money came from. There is no place in this house to keep so many lakhs of rupees.
We do not know from where such a huge amount has been shown," Prasad said, apparently suggesting that the money had been brought to the house from outside. According to him, police officials searched the house two days ago and examined cupboards and documents. "Some police personnel came inside and took papers from the cupboard. The police have not told us anything. They searched everything thoroughly," he said. Responding to reports that foreign currency was also recovered during the raid, Prasad said no member of the family lived abroad. "We are hearing that dollars were found. How can dollars come here? Nobody in our family is abroad. Tell us where the dollars were found and from where they came," he said. The family also questioned why no written record of the alleged recovery had been provided to them.
"If anything was recovered, they must have taken it. Did they give anything in writing? We do not know," Prasad said. Despite the allegations, he said the family would accept the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the case. "Luv Kush is innocent. If the team formed by the government finds him guilty, then he will face the consequences," he said. Expressing frustration over the investigation and the public scrutiny surrounding the case, Prasad challenged authorities to take action if wrongdoing was proven. "If you have the courage, run a bulldozer over this house. The property is properly registered. Whatever has to be demolished, demolish it," he said. Mishra's mother also defended her son. Speaking from inside the house without opening the door, she repeatedly maintained that he was innocent and was being falsely implicated in the case.
