A two-year-old child drowned after falling into an open rainwater-filled pit in the Lonikalbhor area of Pune, Maharashtra. The child was playing outside his home when the incident occurred. The excavation site consisted of four unfinished pits dug for sewage and rainwater drainage, which had been left uncovered and without barricades or safety measures.
Following the incident, the local police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unknown contractor for negligence. Authorities are currently verifying the contractor's identity and contract details as the investigation continues.
