Honeymoon Murder Bail Challenged Over Clerical Error As Court Notes Rising Spousal Crimes
The apex court has issued a notice regarding a plea to cancel the bail of a woman accused of pushing her husband off a cliff
The apex court has issued a notice regarding a plea to cancel the bail of a woman accused of pushing her husband off a cliff during their honeymoon. The accused was previously granted bail by the high court due to a clerical error in the arrest memo under the new criminal code and procedural infirmities during her transit remand. The state police challenged this, arguing that the crime was premeditated and involved multiple accomplices.
During the hearing, the solicitor general highlighted a concerning trend of increasing spousal crimes, referencing another recent incident where a man was murdered for wearing a wig. The top court bench acknowledged dealing with similar offenses recently, noting that such cases require deeper judicial introspection to determine factors like premeditation and provocation. The accused currently remains out on bail under strict conditions, having surrendered travel documents, while authorities press for the cancellation of her release.
