Radhakrishnan was arrested at Authoor in Thoothukudi district on Friday (July 3, 2026), for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, in his recent speech. The arrest came shortly after the Madras High Court dismissed an anticipatory bail plea filed by Mr. Anitha Radhakrishnan in a case booked by Authoor police in Thoothukudi district over his alleged objectionable remarks against the Chief Minister.
Following the arrest, Mr. Radhakrishnan was taken to Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police office for further investigation. Stalin asked if this was the change promised by a government that is incapable of preventing murders, robberies, and sexual crimes against women across Tamil Nadu, but is busy inducting MLAs from the opposition. thinks he can simply pass time by arresting opposition members who criticise him, charged the DMK president adding that “arrogance will lead to destruction.” Thoothukudi MP and DMK’s deputy general secretary Kanimozhi, in a social media post, condemned the arrest by the TVK government and stated that the DMK will never bow down to such oppressive tactics.
