Bishnoi, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a separate case, approached a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court, saying he wanted to surrender “to face the ongoing trial and participate in the judicial proceedings in the interest of a fair trial and justice", sources told CNN-News18.
He was deported from the United States in November 2025 and subsequently arrested by the Investigation Agency (NIA). He was wanted in multiple cases, including the firing outside the Bandra residence of actor Salman Khan in April 2024. What Anmol Bishnoi Said In His Plea Anmol Bishnoi moved a plea before the Special MCOCA Court and sought to “voluntarily surrender" in the 2024 firing case outside Khan’s residence. In his plea, he stated that he intended to voluntarily surrender before the court to “face the ongoing trial and join the judicial proceedings in the interest of fair trial and further in the interest of justice". Sources told CNN-News18 that Bishnoi took responsibility for the 2024 firing incident, adding the trial against other accused involved in the incident was underway. Since he is already in judicial custody in the NIA case, he has requested the Mumbai Court to issue a production warrant and allow him to appear before the court, either physically or through video conferencing.
The Special Court has sought a response from the prosecution on the plea. If accepted, Bishnoi will formally surrender before the Court and join the proceedings. According to his plea, allowing him to surrender will help speed up the ongoing trial and avoid unnecessary legal delays. The application also pointed out that the trial had already begun and that statements of three prosecution witnesses had been recorded in his absence. Salman Khan Firing Case The case stems from the firing outside the Galaxy Apartment of Bollywood actor Salman Khan on the morning of April 14, 2024, when two bike-borne shooters allegedly opened fire before fleeing the spot. Bike-borne individuals Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal had carried out the firing. According to the Mumbai Police, the attack was orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A trial against the five accused –– Vicky Gupta, Sagar Pal, Harpal Singh, Sonukumar Bishnoi, and Mohammad Rafiq Choudhari –– is underway.
