New Twist In Ketan Agarwal Case: Chetan's Classmate, Who 'Knew Of The Murder', Questioned By Police Reported By, Edited By Last Updated: July 03, 2026, 12:13 IST According to sources, the classmate was "in the know" of the alleged murder plan and is believed to have met both Chetan Chaudhary and Siya Goyal after the murder. As Ketan Agarwal's murder continues to dominate national headlines, another angle emerged this week when a Pune-based legal professional sent a Rs 10 crore defamation notice to Siya Goyal's brother, Sahil Goyal. While most national publications, including The Times of India and Hindustan Times, described him as a 'lawyer', The Indian Express referred to him as an 'advocate'. So who actually sent the notice, a lawyer or an advocate? Or are the two terms interchangeable? News18 explains. A classmate of murder accused Chetan Chaudhary has been detained by Pune Rural Police for questioning in connection with the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, sources told News18.
Investigators suspect the student was aware of the alleged conspiracy to kill Agarwal well before the crime was carried out, making him a potentially crucial witness in the case. According to sources, the classmate was “in the know" of the alleged murder plan and is believed to have met both Chetan Chaudhary and co-accused Siya Goyal after the murder. Police are now examining the nature of his interactions with the accused, whether he had prior knowledge of the conspiracy, and if any evidence was shared or discussed after the crime. Officials have not yet indicated whether the student will be treated as a witness or whether any further legal action is being considered. The development comes as Pune Rural Police continue to tighten the case against Siya Goyal, 22, and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, who are accused of murdering Siya’s fiancé, 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal, at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators have alleged that the killing was not impulsive but the culmination of weeks of planning, including multiple failed attempts and a rehearsal conducted days before the murder.
Police have reconstructed the sequence of events using digital evidence, forensic material and statements collected during the investigation. On Wednesday, police took Siya Goyal to her residence in Pune’s Market Yard area to recover clothes allegedly worn on the day of the crime. As she was being escorted by police, she was caught on camera making an obscene gesture and showing her middle finger towards the media and onlookers. Investigators have also sought to subject both Siya and Chetan to polygraph examinations and other forensic tests as they continue to gather corroborative evidence in the absence of eyewitnesses. According to the police, Siya and Chetan allegedly lured Ketan to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing before pushing him into a gorge. The two initially attempted to portray his death as an accident, but investigators say call records, location data, CCTV footage and other evidence pointed towards a carefully orchestrated murder. The accused were arrested soon after, and the investigation has since expanded to examine everyone who may have known about the alleged conspiracy before or immediately after the crime.
