The Meghalaya government has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the bail granted to the accused in the honeymoon murder case. The top court is scheduled to hear the matter today. The state argues that the bail was granted due to a procedural lapse from a clerical error in the arrest warrant, despite the murder being premeditated.
Previously, the High Court upheld the trial court's bail order, noting that the police cited wrong sections in the arrest warrant and failed to properly communicate the grounds of arrest in writing. The state contends that the accused may go absconding if released on bail.
