Screengrab of CCTV footage A 35-year-old police employee was allegedly assaulted by a group of bike-borne men after a minor road dispute on Mankapur Ring Road in Nagpur. The accused also vandalised his private car before fleeing. The incident, which took place on the night of June 28, was captured on CCTV.
According to police, the officer was travelling towards Mankapur Square with a female friend when seven to eight motorcycles intercepted his car. The accused allegedly parked their bikes in front of the vehicle, abused the officer, assaulted him on the road and damaged the car. Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, police identified and detained 14 accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Harsh Pawar, Gaurav Dhirde, Sanyam Ganeshpuri, Yash Prateki, Satyam Shirke, Premraj Dhakate, Akash Bokde, Nitin Gokhale, Vicky Telghare, Bhumi Dev alias Sagar Bokde, Ganesh Uike, Pritam Modekar and Tikaram Barapatre.
Police said some of the accused have previous criminal records. Five two-wheelers and property worth around Rs 5.60 lakh have been seized from their possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, police said.
