(You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel Mumbai received heavy rainfall during the 24-hour period between 8 am on July 2 and 6 am on July 3, with the Mandavi Fire Station recording the city's highest rainfall at 150.2 mm, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data.In the island city, Malabar Hill recorded 145.8 mm of rainfall, followed by B Ward Office (140.8 mm), Menonwada Fire Station (140.2 mm) and the Municipal Head Office (139.2 mm).Among the western suburbs, Malpa Dongari Municipal School in Andheri recorded the highest rainfall at 136.6 mm, followed by K East Ward Office (134.6 mm), Versova WWTF & Lagoons (129.4 mm), Versova Pumping Station (128.8 mm) and Andheri Fire Station (128.6 mm).In the eastern suburbs, Paspoli Powai Municipal School recorded the highest rainfall at 124 mm, followed by Mankhurd Fire Station (117.8 mm), S Ward Office (116.2 mm) and Gawanpada Fire Station (115.6 mm).The data shows widespread heavy rainfall across Mumbai, with several locations in the city and suburbs recording more than 100 mm of rain during the 24-hour period.Following an intense monsoon downpour,the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded its weather warning to an Orange Alert, as reported by ANI.The financial capital is in total disarray amid widespread waterlogging, crippled major traffic corridors, and two tragic fatalities linked directly to civic infrastructure failures.Several areas of Mumbai, including Dadra East and Sion Gandhi Market, faced severe waterlogging, further worsening commuter hardship and disrupting daily life of citizens.With the weather agency predicting sustained heavy downpours over the next 24 hours, civic authorities have urged residents to avoid non-essential travel as emergency teams continue clearing debris across the waterlogged metropolis.A tree collapse in Mumbai's Santacruz area left eight people injured on Thursday afternoon following heavy rains.The incident took place around 2.02 pm inside the premises of a private building near Raheja College in Santacruz (West), the BMC said in a release.Civic workers were on the spot to inspect a fallen tree, when another tree collapsed on the team, injuring eight people, who were later admitted to Nanavati Hospital.Earlier on Thursday, the civic body received 91 complaints of tree and branch falls, nine complaints of short circuit and four complaints of partial house or wall collapses. No casualties were reported in the short-circuit or house collapse incidents.
