Rattled-Crybaby Pakistan Claims Indus Valley Civilization Heritage After Water Treaty Abeyance

Pakistan has mounted a diplomatic offensive to project itself as the inheritor of the Indus Valley Civilization. Historically, the nation traced its origins to Arab, Turkish, and Persian roots, celebrating the conquest of Sindh by Muhammad bin Qasim in 712 AD. However, following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan is abruptly embracing its pre-Islamic Sanatan roots. Pakistan's Information Minister Ataullah Tarar recently referred to the nation as an 'Indus water civilization'.
The country has started honouring ancient figures like Acharya Chanakya and Sanskrit scholar Panini, alongside hosting international conferences on Buddhist heritage and promoting the Takshashila University. Despite this newfound appreciation for ancient heritage, minorities face continued persecution, highlighted by the recent destruction of a 125-year-old gurdwara. The shift is viewed as an identity crisis and a strategic move driven by water disputes, as Pakistani officials argue that the Indus River is the lifeline of their 240 million citizens.
