Several roads remained inundated, making it difficult for motorists to navigate. The district recorded an average rainfall of 21.19 mm. The highest rainfall of 80 mm was recorded at Honnethalu near Agumbe in Tirthahalli taluk. Among the taluks, Tirthahalli recorded an average of 38 mm of rainfall, Hosanagara 42.8 mm, Sagar 47.3 mm, Shivamogga 4.9 mm, Shikaripur 3.9 mm, Bhadravathi 2 mm, and Sorab 9.1 mm.
Meanwhile, officials of the Karnataka Neeravari Nigama Limited have decided to release water from the Tunga reservoir at Gajanur near Shivamogga into the canals of the Upper Tunga Project from Thursday for the kharif season. Agricultural lands in Shivamogga, Davanagere, and Haveri districts are expected to benefit from the release. The Executive Engineer of the Upper Tunga Project has appealed to people living near the canals to remain alert and maintain a safe distance from the water flow.
Meanwhile, the Irrigation Advisory Committee of the Bhadra reservoir has issued a communique informing farmers that, owing to deficient rainfall and reduced inflow, no water will be released from the dam for the kharif
season. The water available in the reservoir will be utilised only to meet drinking water requirements. The committee said a further decision would be taken if the region receives good rainfall in the coming days.
