Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the capital's updated Electric Vehicle (EV) policy to combat pollution. The framework mandates halting the registration of new petrol and diesel two- and three-wheelers by January 2027. To encourage adoption, the government offers a 30,000-rupee subsidy for two-wheelers, a 10,000-rupee scrapping incentive, and road tax waivers, alongside a target of 32,000 charging stations by March 2030. A winter action plan also bans outdoor construction from December 10 to January 28.
However, an India Today ground report reveals non-functional EV charging stations across Delhi, raising infrastructure concerns. In other news, an alleged abuse incident involving toddlers at a Bengaluru Capgemini daycare facility has sparked outrage regarding corporate accountability and child safety. Additionally, four Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, including a senior ward officer, have been suspended following the death of a man who fell into an open manhole in Mumbai.
