Synopsis Karnataka government has instructed electricity supply companies to object to Tata Power's entry into the state's power distribution business. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated the government opposes private sector involvement in distribution, blaming the previous BJP regime for policy changes. Tata Power has applied for five licences, excluding Bengaluru, and Escoms will inform the regulator of the government's non-concurrence.
