Three-day theatre festival in Shivamogga

A three-day theatre festival organised by Sahyadri Ranga Taranga, a theatre troupe in Shivamogga, will begin on Saturday. The plays will be staged at Kuvempu Ranga Mandira at 6.45 p.m. on all three days. Kanthesh Kadaramandalagi, founder of the troupe, said during a press conference in Shivamogga on Thursday that three plays will be staged as part of the festival.
Mithabail Yamunakka, based on D.K. Chowta’s novel, will be presented on the first day. The novel has been adapted for the stage by Basavaraj Suleripalya and directed by Rajaguru Hosakote. The play will be staged by Bengaluru-based Ranga Payana. On the second day, Kuhoo, directed by Arun Lal, will be staged by Kerala’s Little School of Theatre.
The festival will conclude with Thum Thum Thumbi Banditta directed by Rajaneesh Navuda of Sahyadri Rangataranga. The organisers have appealed to theatre lovers in Shivamogga
to attend the plays. The festival will also feature an exhibition of artworks by Umesh Manjannavar and Yugashree S.A.
