The interruption came shortly after the scheduled hydration break, around the 31st minute, with the official broadcast quickly cutting away as security personnel raced onto the pitch. At least four spectators attempted to invade the playing surface, though only three managed to enter before being swiftly tackled and escorted away.

Another appeared to be a gambling company, while one shirt displayed the slogan “A.C.T" (“Asians Can Too"). Reports also suggested that several of the individuals were wearing Meta smart glasses. A dwarf dressed in a Belgium kit and another spectator in a plain white T-shirt were stopped before they could reach the field. The incident lasted less than 90 seconds, with Belgian defender Maxim De Cuyper standing over a dead ball while officials cleared the pitch. Neither set of players appeared particularly rattled by the disruption. The stoppage came moments after Senegal had taken a deserved lead through Habib Diarra, who netted his sixth international goal in the 24th minute to put the Lions of Teranga 1-0 ahead.
Play resumed without further incident — and ultimately, Youri Tielemans scored the latest winner in World Cup history as Belgium mounted an incredible comeback from two goals down to beat Senegal 3-2 and qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup. Previous Pitch Invasions During the 2022 tournament in Qatar, activist Mario Ferri — popularly known as “The Falcon" — interrupted Portugal’s clash against Uruguay wearing a Superman T-shirt emblazoned with messages supporting Ukraine and Iranian women. Four years earlier, members of Russian protest group Pussy Riot invaded the field during the 2018 World Cup final between France and Croatia before being removed by security.
