In the fixture at Lumen Field in Seattle, Sarr opened his account by scoring Senegal’s second goal in the 51st minute. The goal against the Red Devils helped Sarr equal the record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single FIFA World Cup edition. Before Sarr, who plays for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, only Cameroon’s Roger Milla had scored four goals in a single FIFA World Cup.

Milla, who is also the oldest player to score in a FIFA World Cup match, achieved the feat at the 1990 edition.
