She was later seen taking a selfie while wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring.

According to reports, nearly 40 officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to the scene. The pair later appeared to remove the banner before climbing down to a lower platform. It remains unclear how the couple managed to access the top of the Empire State Building’s spire. Authorities have not disclosed whether they gained authorised access or illegally climbed the structure. Police were working to safely bring them down from the spire.
