Infrastructure developer Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) and Abu Dhabi-based Analog have formed an equal joint venture to deploy Physical Intelligence solutions in India. The JV firm will be investing $300-500 million over next three years, MEIL managing director PV Krishna Reddy said addressing media along with Analog founder and CEO Alex Kipman. Physical Intelligence is the capacity of machines to perceive, understand and act within the real world and not through rigid programming. Through continuous learning it helps building a living model of the world that grows more intelligent with every interaction, the companies said. The focus will be on providing solutions that address urban challenges such as traffic issues, around power distribution and security.
Education and healthcare are also areas in which Physical Intelligence solutions can find applications, Mr. Reddy said, adding a pilot project on the traffic around the State Secretariat in Hyderabad is already underway. On the product development side, the JV is likely to set up a facility for robots and drones in Hyderabad, he said. The JV stood to benefit from the scale and reach of MEIL while Analog brings the technology. The partnership will eye deployments across intelligent infrastructure and mobility, smart urban systems, advanced sensing and operational intelligence, robotics and spatial computing, industrial transformation, public safety, and AI-enabled real-world environments. “India is one of the most important technology opportunities in the world with extraordinary engineering talent, infrastructure ambition and entrepreneurial energy.
Physical Intelligence belongs in this moment and MEIL is the right partner to help us build it,” Mr. Kipman said. To queries around the Megha Group, Mr. Reddy said though it is popular as an infrastructure developer, it is well diversified and has a strong technology connect by virtue of being a leading electric bus maker as well as the fleet operator. The Group clocked more than ₹55,000 crore in revenue last fiscal and executing and order book, for the next few years, of about ₹2.5 lakh crore. Besides India, the Group is working in more than 15 countries and into refineries, electric buses, power generation and road developments projects.
