An India Today debate explores the political clash between the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party over alleged irregularities in Ram Mandir donations in Ayodhya. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Pradeep Bhatti questioned the credibility of the Special Investigation Team formed by the Uttar Pradesh government, demanding an independent CBI inquiry and accountability from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Bhatti alleged state complicity and financial fraud within the temple trust.
In response, BJP Spokesperson Sanju Verma defended the state government's swift action, noting that an SIT was instituted immediately, an FIR was lodged against eight individuals, and five others are under interrogation. Verma dismissed the opposition's demands, accusing the Samajwadi Party and the Congress of hypocrisy and pointing to their past records. The debate highlighted the growing tension over the administration of the temple trust, with the opposition calling for the trust to be disbanded pending a fair investigation, while the BJP maintained that the guilty will be held accountable.
