(Getty Images via AFP) US President Donald Trump on Wednesday defended earning around $1.2 billion from his family’s cryptocurrency activities, saying his financial gains were simply part of a broader market upswing under his presidency. “You know why I’m profiting, because the stock market’s going up, everybody’s profiting," Trump told reporters as he prepared to take his first flight on a new Air Force One plane gifted by Qatar. Trump further insisted that his earnings stemmed from his long business career, even as much of the income in question is linked to crypto ventures launched during his return to the White House. “I don’t know if I’ve had a better career in politics or business, but I had a great career in business, and you know, you saw the cash, and you report the different things," he said. “So we’re all profiting. I’m profiting because I have a lot of money and a lot of cash." What Trump’s earnings report shows?
According to financial disclosures released by the US Office of Government Ethics, Trump earned nearly $1.2 billion from cryptocurrency-related ventures in 2025 alone. This includes about $550 million linked to World Liberty Financial, a startup co-founded by his sons and the son of his Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff. The filings also cite $635 million in royalties tied to the $TRUMP cryptocurrency, launched shortly before his inauguration in January 2025. The disclosures show that Trump’s crypto-linked wealth has been a major driver of the sharp rise in his net worth, which has reportedly climbed from $2.3 billion to $6.5 billion between 2024 and 2026, according to Forbes. The White House has rejected conflict-of-interest concerns, saying Trump has “proudly made the United States the crypto capital of the world" and insisting all actions are taken in the national interest.
