Apple's next-generation Pro iPhone could bring a big design change that many users have been waiting for. While the company is expected to announce the iPhone 18 lineup in about 8 weeks, fresh leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro may feature a much smaller Dynamic Island than current models. If the information is accurate, the upcoming device could begin Apple's gradual move away from a very broad front display cutout that has been part of the iPhone experience for years. The reported change may not completely remove the Dynamic Island, but it could make the display look cleaner and offer users a little more usable screen space without changing how Face ID works. Read Full Story According to 9To5Mac, Apple is planning to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro by around 35 percent.
That might not sound like a huge difference on paper, but on a smartphone display, even a small reduction can make content appear more immersive. The Dynamic Island is the pill-shaped area at the top of the display that houses the front camera and Face ID hardware. Unlike a traditional notch, it also doubles as an interactive space for features such as music controls, timers, incoming calls and Live Activities. If Apple manages to shrink it while keeping these features intact, users could enjoy the same functionality with less of the display being occupied. Reports also suggest that iOS 27 may already be preparing for this design update. The redesigned Siri AI interface is said to fit better with a smaller Dynamic Island, although Apple has not officially confirmed any connection between the software and the rumoured hardware change.
Apple appears to be working towards a full-screen iPhone The rumoured redesign also points to Apple's long-term direction. When the iPhone X launched nearly a decade ago, Apple introduced the notch because it needed room for advanced Face ID components without adding thick bezels around the display. A few years later, the company replaced the notch with the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro, making the cutout more useful instead of simply trying to hide it. Now, leaks indicate that Apple is ready for the next phase by reducing the size of the Dynamic Island even further. While the company is not expected to remove it completely this year, the latest rumour suggests that Apple is gradually making the front display look cleaner as technology allows the camera and Face ID sensors to occupy less space.
