(X) Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan officially launched his highly anticipated book, ‘Apnapan: Narendra Modi Sang Mere Anubhav’ (My Experiences with Narendra Modi), on Tuesday at the NASC Complex in Pusa, New Delhi. The book offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look into Chouhan’s three-and-a-half-decade-long political, organisational, and personal association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This high-profile event was inaugurated by former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda. The launch drew a distinguished gathering, including various top Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of nearly a dozen states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Tripura, and Rajasthan.
Addressing the gathering, Chouhan emphasised that while the global community recognises Prime Minister Modi as a powerful, decisive world leader, he has personally witnessed him as a ‘Sadhak’ and a ‘Karmayogi’. “This book reflects the deep warmth and closeness and the true ‘Apnapan’ I have experienced while working alongside Modi ji over the years. His true strength lies not merely in policies, but in the profound trust he generates. I have often heard Modi say that he is a karyakarta (worker) just like anyone else. He doesn’t merely say it, he lives it," said the Union Minister. The narrative of the book ‘Apnapan’ traces a shared history beginning with the historic 1991 Ekta Yatra led by Murli Manohar Joshi, where Modi served as the organisational in-charge and Chouhan was the state president of the party’s youth wing. Chouhan notes that it was during this challenging journey that he realised true leadership is not forged through speeches, but through rigorous discipline, sacrifice, and an emotional connection with the grassroots.
This book captures pivotal historical touchpoints, exploring their evolution from party workers to regional Chief Ministers, and ultimately to colleagues in the Union Cabinet. It highlights untold anecdotes, such as Modi’s early foresight regarding the impact of technology in nation-building long before it was mainstream, his calm composure during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his firm decision-making following the Pahalgam terror attack. Chouhan clarified that the book is far more than a collection of past anecdotes; it is a document of a core philosophy, vision, and the spirit of nation-building. It highlights how local state initiatives, like Modi’s ‘Kanya Kelavani’ girl-education campaign in Gujarat, cross-pollinated and inspired Chouhan’s own highly successful women empowerment models during his tenure as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. Concluding the address, Chouhan expressed confidence that ‘Apnapan’ would serve as a powerful source of inspiration for India’s youth, delivering a central message: transforming a nation does not require a massive title, but a grand resolve, unconditional discipline, and a heartfelt bond with the people.
