(Representational image) A new project that will further strengthen the image of the state of Uttar Pradesh as the global Buddhist tourism spot is fully ready. With the construction of the Buddha Theme Park near the Gautam Buddha Museum in Kushinagar district, the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government is attempting to put the state firmly on the Buddhist tourism map. The park has been developed by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) at an approximate cost of Rs 11.32 Crore The park is expected to be opened for the public soon, according to a press release issued by the UP government. The state, with this new park, aims to connect pilgrims and tourists from across the world with the philosophy and message of compassion of Lord Buddha.
The Buddha Theme Park has been developed as a unique confluence of modern technology, spiritual experience, and Buddhist heritage, the press release said. The Buddha Theme Park has been developed as a living experience centre for Buddhist knowledge and spirituality not just a tourist destination. The experience here involves interactive storytelling, heritage interpretation, and modern presentation techniques to make visitors aware about the major events of Lord Buddha’s life and his teachings. With this park the state also intends to encourage people to experience self-reflection and inner awakening and not take information. The Bodhi Tree will be the principal attraction of the park, the release stated. The wisdom, compassion, and life values of Lord Buddha will be presented through an interactive format at the Bodhi Tree. The park will also feature Tibetan-style stupas, prayer wheels, sculptural installations and various experimental exhibits. These are intended to introduce Buddhist culture and spiritual traditions to the visitors. The state government said that the eight Stupas presented in the park symbolise the eight great deeds of Buddha. They give visitors an opportunity to understand the depth of the Buddhist philosophy. There are also 3D tableaux and digital exhibits that will present the major events of Lord Buddha’s life with the use of modern technology.
