'Bengal Tactics Won't Work Here': Revanth Reddy Mocks Nitin Nabin's BJP Victory Claim In Telangana Published By, Last Updated: July 01, 2026, 11:18 IST Revanth Reddy ridiculed BJP chief Nitin Nabin's claim of forming the next Telangana government, saying the Congress was ready to "crush" the saffron party. A file photo of Revanth Reddy (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday mocked BJP national president Nitin Nabin, saying he did not even know his name, as he dismissed the saffron party’s claim that it would form the next government in the state. Hitting back at Nabin’s prediction of a BJP victory in the 2028 Assembly elections, Reddy asserted that the Congress would “crush" the BJP and said the party’s political “tricks" that worked elsewhere would not succeed in Telangana. The remarks came during the Rythu Bharosa Programme in Hyderabad, hours after Nabin, addressing the Telangana BJP Executive Meeting, announced that the BJP would launch a statewide agitation against the Congress government and expressed confidence that the party would come to power in the state.
Taking a direct swipe at the BJP chief, Reddy said, “Recently, a guy came here, Nabin or whatever, I don’t really know his name. But he comes here and says, the next government is theirs." Continuing his attack, the Chief Minister referred to the BJP’s political journey in West Bengal and claimed similar strategies would fail in Telangana. “You said the same thing about West Bengal. It took you 15 years (to form a government) in West Bengal. Over there, because it was Mamata Banerjee, your tricks might have worked. But here, all our guys are ready, and they will crush you," Reddy said. The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing beneficiaries of the Rythu Bharosa Programme, during which he also transferred Rs 2,482.02 crore into the bank accounts of 41.37 lakh farmers across Telangana. BJP ANNOUNCES STATEWIDE AGITATION Earlier in the day, Nabin addressed the Telangana BJP Executive Meeting held at the Rock Convention Centre in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where he accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil the promises it had made to the people before the Assembly elections.
Nabin announced that the BJP would organise statewide protests and public outreach programmes to expose what it described as the failures of the Congress government and mobilise public opinion across Telangana. “We are witnessing rapid growth of the BJP in Telangana. With the dedication of our cadre and the support of the people, we are confident of forming a BJP government in the state in the coming days," Nabin said, urging party workers to remain united and intensify their organisational efforts. Addressing the same meeting, Nabin also launched an attack on the Congress, alleging that the party had become synonymous not only with corruption but also with the criminalisation of politics. The BJP president further alleged that while the NDA government had simplified taxation through GST and reduced income tax, the Congress government in Telangana was sending money to the “Delhi Durbar" through what the BJP calls the “RR Tax", referring to “Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy Tax." He also claimed that the BJP would hold the Congress government accountable for public money allegedly spent on Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visit and accused the state government of irregularities in the Musi riverfront project.
