The purported teen couple were found hanging inside a thatched shed on land belonging to a man identified as Kumaravel. Upon discovering the two bodies, locals alerted the police. More than 30 police personnel were subsequently rushed to the spot.
As the man and the girl belonged to different communities, senior police officials reached the scene to supervise the investigation and prevent any law and order issues. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The man's relatives have demanded a thorough probe into the case, insisting that the deaths were the result of honour killing.
