'Lot More Games To Play': JD Vance Says Trump Trying To Gain Edge For US In Iran Talks Published By, Last Updated: July 01, 2026, 00:47 IST United States Vice President JD Vance said that President Donald Trump is focused on securing an advantage for the country. United States Vice President JD Vance (Source: Reuters) United States Vice President JD Vance said the Trump administration is continuing its efforts in negotiations with Iran, asserting that President Donald Trump is focused on securing an advantage for the United States. “There is a lot more game to play… the good thing about it is that we’re served by an administration, we’re served by @POTUS who is constantly trying to figure out how to gain an edge for the American people," Vance said while commenting on the ongoing negotiations.

That’s going to take a little bit of time, but you’ve already seen the prices come way down," he said. His remarks came as US envoys are scheduled to meet Qatari mediators in Doha to discuss negotiations with Iran, following Tehran and Washington’s agreement earlier this month on a memorandum of understanding aimed at halting the war in the Middle East.
Iran said a delegation would travel to Doha this week, but disputed US President Donald Trump’s assertion that direct talks would take place. Qatar also said no high-level meetings or direct negotiations between the United States and Iran were scheduled in Doha. Since the signing of the US-Iran memorandum, both sides have exchanged sporadic fire in the Gulf. Tehran’s enforcement of its claim over the Strait of Hormuz has led to repeated flare-ups. The latest incident occurred early Sunday when US Central Command said it had struck 10 Iranian military targets in response to what it described as “continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping." Iran said it retaliated by launching strikes on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. Both countries condemned Tehran’s actions.
