The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has commenced in Karnataka, covering over five point five four crore registered voters. The state government has set up forty-nine thousand three hundred and twenty assistance centres to facilitate the door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms by booth-level officers. The state leadership has urged citizens to complete and return the forms within thirty days, warning that failure to do so could result in the loss of voting rights and exclusion from government welfare schemes, pensions, and guarantees.
While election officials clarified that no documents will be collected during this enumeration phase, the exercise has faced political opposition, with allegations of a lack of transparency and clashes occurring between political party workers.
