As she fell back to the ground, the car allegedly ran over her with both its front and rear wheels before speeding away from the spot. In footage of the incident, which has gone viral, the force of the collision can be seen throwing the child into the air. The driver does not stop, and the vehicle continues moving after running over her. The incident took place near a newly developing housing society in Iklera, where the girl was playing while her parents were working nearby as daily wage labourers.
Local residents rushed the severely injured child to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Police said the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to trace and arrest the accused.
