The Met Department has forecast a below normal monsoon for July, with rainfall likely to be under ninety-four percent of the long period average. This follows a weak June, which ended with a forty percent nationwide rainfall deficit. Both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to stay above normal across most parts of India, with a heat and high humidity advisory issued for the coming week.
The weak monsoon is expected to impact farmers, particularly in parts of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Delhi NCR is expected to receive monsoon showers in the next two to three days after nationwide delays.
