Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iranian officials would travel to Doha to hold discussions with their Qatari counterparts on implementing provisions of the recently signed memorandum of understanding, including the release of Iranian funds frozen in Qatar. “What will probably be done in Doha tomorrow is a discussion on the implementation of clauses of the Memorandum of Understanding, including the clause related to the release of Iran’s restricted assets with the Qatari parties," Baghaei said. He dismissed speculation about fresh diplomacy with Washington, adding: “We have not planned any meeting with the American side at any level for the next few days." The clarification came even as US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are in Doha, prompting reports that indirect contacts between the two sides could resume.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry earlier said that the $6 billion in Iranian funds held in the Gulf nation had not yet been transferred to Tehran, making the implementation of the financial provisions of the memorandum one of the key issues expected to be discussed. Baghaei also warned that Iran would respond firmly to any American violation of the memorandum aimed at ending the recent conflict in West Asia. “We will not leave any action unanswered," he said, adding that any future aggression against Iran would receive an “immediate and decisive response." According to the spokesperson, any renewed military action by Washington would amount to a violation of the first article of the memorandum and could jeopardise the agreement’s implementation.
