(PTI file photo) The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has advanced its next meeting to July 6 from July 11, where key decisions on the fate of its former general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra are expected to be taken amid an ongoing controversy over alleged donation irregularities. According to a Times of India report, all 14 members of the Trust have been asked to remain available for the meeting, which is likely to focus on leadership changes, internal restructuring and measures to strengthen transparency in the management of temple affairs.
Emergency Meet And Key Agenda The Trust is also expected to discuss whether a restructuring of day-to-day operations and supervision at a higher level is required to ensure greater accountability. It may also consider adding new members to fill vacancies, including replacing a member who passed away in August last year, TOI reported. Issues related to crowd management and improving facilities for devotees are also likely to be taken up, especially in view of rising temperatures and increasing footfall at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Sources said the emergency meeting was convened at the initiative of Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri, who cited the need to address urgent matters related to administration and transparency. Temple Trust On Rai And Mishra’s Resignations On Saturday, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had confirmed that Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra had resigned from their posts, and assured that a fair inquiry would be conducted into allegations related to Ram temple donations.
The resignations came against the backdrop of an alleged donation embezzlement case at the Ram Mandir, which surfaced on June 7. Following a request from the Trust, the Uttar Pradesh government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13. Based on preliminary findings, an FIR was registered on June 25, and police have so far arrested eight people in connection with the case. The investigation is currently underway.
