Key focus areas are expected to include ease of doing business, digital governance, deregulation, administrative efficiency and strengthening last-mile delivery of government services. The interaction is one of the first full-secretary-level meetings chaired by the Prime Minister in the current financial year and is expected to align the bureaucracy with the government's policy priorities for the second half of 2026.
According to sources, several secretaries are expected to make presentations on the functioning of their respective ministries, highlighting progress on reform measures, governance initiatives and people-centric programmes. The Prime Minister is also expected to review steps taken by ministries to improve service delivery and reduce bureaucratic delays. The meeting comes as the government sharpens its focus on long-term reforms under Modi's vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, when the country will mark 100 years of Independence.
The discussions are likely to build on the reform priorities outlined by PM Modi at the Council of Ministers meeting on June 21, where he said the government would leave no stone unturned to further improve "Ease of Living" and "Ease of Doing Business" while expanding opportunities for the country's youth. The meeting also comes against the backdrop of strong economic performance, despite global headwinds arising from the Middle East crisis and volatility in oil markets. Ends
