A four-year-old boy, identified as Nirbhay, has fallen into an open borewell in Zhanaura village in Haryana's Ambala. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when the child accompanied his father, Manjeet, to deliver breakfast to his grandfather. The borewell is nine inches wide and up to 300 feet deep, with water present at the 200-foot mark. A multi-agency rescue operation is currently underway, involving the Disaster Response Force, the State Disaster Response Force, the Indian Army, and local police.
Rescue teams are using CCTV, underwater cameras, and ropes to locate the boy. Rescue personnel indicate that the child is submerged in about 10 feet of water, and there is currently no movement visible, leading to concerns about his chances of survival. Heavy machinery has been brought to the site to assist the ongoing rescue efforts. The incident highlights the recurring danger of unsecured open borewells across the country.
